Thank you for the rich time: Flash news of the Kickoff Symposium

In the afternoon of Sunday July 6th 2014, there was the Kickoff Symposium of 5: Designing Media Ecology at the Fukutake Hall, Hongo Campus, UTokyo.

2014年7月6日（日）の午後、東京大学本郷キャンパス福武ホールで、『５：Designing Media Ecology』の創刊シンポジウムを開催しました。

About fifty participants: citizen media practitioners, media literacy teachers, art activists, broadcasters, high school students, university professors, etc, student’s supporters, and the members of editorial office got together and had a rich discussion and shared feeling experience.

約50名の参加者（市民メディアの実践者、メディア・リテラシーの教師、アート・アクティビスト、放送局員、高校生、大学教員など多様）、サポートの大学生・大学院生、編集室のメンバーは濃密なディスカッションと共有の経験をしました。

The editorial board members: Osamu Sakura (left), Yoshitaka Mouri (center), and Shin Mizukoshi (right) had a talk session to show their stances and contexts of making new media colony. From the audience, there was a provocative question  to them, and it made the session as a passionate one.

編集委員の佐倉統、毛利嘉孝、水越伸は新しいメディアの群体をなぜ作ろうとしたかを鼎談で話しました。参加者から挑発的な質問もあり、それがこのセッションを熱いものにしてくれました。

The discussion workshop with five groups was quite stimulating and precious one for sharing ideas how to develop the media strategy of 5.
From now on, we are going to prepare the publication of second issue which will be in our hands in December 2014, produce meetings and workshops, and develop our website.

5つのグループに分かれておこなった交流ワークショップは、５のさまざまなメディア戦略を考えるうえできわめて刺激的で貴重な機会でした。
これから編集室は、第2号の出版の準備をします（12月出版予定）。またいくつかの研究会やワークショップを開催し、ウェブサイトを充実させていきます。
